Suva, Friday 17 Nov 2023 – The International Day for Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) in Labasa on Friday, 1 December 2023, is set to receive a significant boost thanks to the contribution of $2,000 from Kontiki Finance. Ratu Jope Kikau, Onboarding Supervisor from Kontiki Finance handed over a cheque in support of this event. The organising committee from the National Council for Persons with Disabilities extends its deepest gratitude to Kontiki Finance for our support in making this year’s event a resounding success.
The annual event, dedicated to advocating for and raising awareness on the rights of persons with disabilities, is a crucial platform for fostering inclusivity and encouraging active participation in society. The theme for this year’s IDPD is ‘United in Action to Rescue and Achieve the SDGs with and by Persons with Disabilities.’ This resonates powerfully with the disability community’s slogans: ‘Nothing About Us Without Us’ and ‘Leaving No One Behind.’
Kontiki Finance’s commitment to contributing $2,000 not only aligns seamlessly with the spirit of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities but also exemplifies corporate responsibility in making a positive impact on communities. This support will play a pivotal role in the committee’s efforts to promote unity and action in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“We are honoured to have Kontiki Finance Limited as a valued partner in our endeavours,” expressed Lemeki Cagialau, Executive Director for National Council for Persons with Disabilities. “Your generosity will undoubtedly make a meaningful difference in the lives of those with disabilities, and we are excited to work together to promote unity and action in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.”
The contribution from Kontiki Finance will be instrumental in ensuring the success of the IDPD event in Labasa. It will support various initiatives aimed at creating awareness, advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities, and providing a platform for them to actively participate in society.
The organising committee expressed sincere appreciation to Kontiki Finance for our support, and together, we look forward to making a lasting and positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities in Labasa.
